Listed on the National Historic Register, the David Whitney building was built in 1915 to anchor the northern end of the Grand Circus Park shopping district. The adaptive re-use project restored the decorative exterior elements that were removed in 1959, as well as the four-story lobby with glass atrium, while thoroughly renovating all floors of the building. Aloft Detroit at The David Whitney is walking distance to Comerica Park, the Arts & Entertainment District and Detroit Opera House, and convenient to Ford Field, Fox Theatre, Joe Louis Arena, several casinos, and the headquarters of General Motors, Ford Motor Company and other Fortune 500 companies.

Stamford, Connecticut, USA – March 20, 2014 – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced that its game-changing Aloft brand will soon debut in Syracuse, New York. Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor will be a key component of a massive waterfront redevelopment project along the former Barge Canal. Owned and developed by COR Development Company, LLC, and managed by Real Hospitality Group, the new Aloft hotel is slated to open in June 2016, featuring 132 spacious, loft-like rooms, forward-thinking technology and a vibrant, social atmosphere.

Aloft Al Ain will Debut in 2016 within the City’s Haaza Bin Zayed Stadium Mixed-Use Development, Marking Starwood’s Entry into Al Ain

Abu Dhabi, UAE – February 12th, 2014 – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced it has signed an agreement to open a new 172-room Aloft hotel in Al Ain, the second largest city in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE. Scheduled to debut in 2016, Aloft Al Ain will be the first Starwood property to open in Al Ain and the second Aloft hotel in the UAE joining Aloft Abu Dhabi, which opened in 2009. Catering to the next generation of travelers, Aloft delivers urban-inspired design, innovative technologies and a lively social atmosphere featuring live music performances.

Stamford, Connecticut, USA – 16 June 2013 – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Promotora TIIM announced that Starwood’s Aloft brand made its debut in Cancun, Mexico. Aloft Cancun is ideally located in the Hotel Zone, adjacent to Cancun Center, the city’s convention and exhibition center, and walking distance from dining, shopping and nightlife.

Aloft provides travelers with high style, forward-thinking technology and a vibrant social atmosphere. Pioneering initiatives in music, design, and technology have positioned Aloft as a must-have brand for the next generation of travelers. Aloft Cancun offers a total sensory experience, combining style with 177 loft-like rooms featuring nine-foot ceilings and oversized windows to create a bright, airy environment.

Aloft Merida and Aloft Guadalajara are slated to open in 2014, and Aloft Asuncion and Aloft Montevideo will open their doors in 2015.
