Hamburg, Germany – 12 May 2016 – Due to the fast growing tourism industry more and more top hotels are needed. On average two new hotels or resorts of the leading categories opened every day during the first quarter of this year worldwide. Within the next eight months until the end of the year another 1,500 hotels will celebrate their inauguration. In total far more than 1,800 hotels are put into operation internationally. But the sustained boom pressurizes the large hotel chains: On the one hand, the expansion must proceed faster. Which means even more new locations are obtained in a shorter period. Wynn Paradise Park wants to score with an artificial beach resort in the desert city: White sand beach and a promenade are planned at the artificial lake. Guests will have the possibility to try water skiing, canoeing and paragliding. Every night a firework should be fired off from the artificial island. The complex will also feature a spacious conference center, which will attract international conferences. The start of construction for the new major project is still open.

Project partner is Crystal Lagoon, which have already established a number of artificial lakes worldwide. The new goal now is to create the largest water park in the United States. The current plan covers an area of approximately one hundred Olympic fitting pools. In addition an equally spacious Golf Course is carefully planned by professionals.

In Las Vegas six other top hotels are currently being built, including a stylish W Hotel with 298 rooms, a new casino resort by Genting Group with around 3,500 rooms and the iconic Lucky Dragon Hotel Casino with 201 rooms and suites.

Thailand tourism in booming – 64 new top resorts in the pipeline

The tourism revenue is growing in the Southeast Asian country annually by more than six percent. This attracts also new investments: According to tophotelprojects.com, the specialized service provider in the exchange of cutting-edge information between clients and contractors in the international hotel industry, currently 74 new hotels and resorts with a total of more than 15,200 rooms are in the pipeline for Thailand.

The InterContinental Hotels Group relies on the holiday destination of Phuket and develops a resort with 454 rooms. The resort will include 75 private apartments and 13 hillside villas as well as gardens. The opening is planned for 2019. The group already operates 19 properties in Thailand.

Another major project is the Grand Hotel Eastin Grand Phayathai in the capital Bangkok, a luxury hotel with 569 rooms (opening should be end of 2019). Also in the capital, a new business hotel with 442 rooms, the Grande Centre Point Hotel will open its doors at the end of this year.

The number of foreign guests recently grew in Thailand by around three percent. It has been estimated that this number will increase by another 17 percent within the next ten years. Currently Chinese guests are, with 25 percent, the largest group of tourists in Thailand.

The growing number of new hotels in Istanbul – according to TOPHOTELPROJECTS currently 30 projects with a total of 5,400 rooms – is increasing the market pressure again. The existing 200,000 beds in hotels and private pensions are available for approximately 11.8 million travelers. The number of tourism is expected to grow further, but not for the holiday destinations Antalya on the Turkish Mediterranean coast. The number of foreign tourists decreased in this year’s first half to 12.3 percent, mainly because guests from Russia failed to materialize.

Gold rush in Iran: boom in tourism expected – Strong increase of business travels and culture trips predicted

The hotel market requires significant extensions and new buildings. The capital Tehran currently supplies only 96 hotels, in comparison: Dubai offers 657 properties. The end of Iran’s isolation? Boost for tourism


Last year, only 4.8 million tourists travelled to Iran. According to surveys by TRI Consulting the occupancy rate of top hotels in Tehran was at 79 percent with an average room rate of 108 US-Dollars and a Revpar (revenue per available room) of 85 US-Dollars. Hotel experts are now predicting an increase of business travel, led by delegations of company representatives accompanied by Western world’s Ministers of economics. Modern hotel concepts are in great demand, especially in the higher segments. Nowadays half of all overnight stays in Tehran are generated by business travels.

The majority of inbound overnight stays in Iran were motivated by religious reasons. But these days more and more Western, cultural interested tourists are visiting the country with its 17 Unesco world heritage sites. The international hospitality and tourism consulting company Horwath HTL is predicting a tourism boom in Iran as the “next big thing”.

A new passenger train, which will shuttle between Budapest and Tehran starting this autumn, promises a truly luxurious journey to the jewels of Persia. The “Golden Eagle Luxury Trains” will show the panoramas of the Orient and Occident in 15 days for about 13,000 Euros per person.

Worldwide the number of new building hotels is increasing annually. Only in July 143 new top hotels will open their doors. Recently Mandarin Oriental, one of the best hotel groups in the world, announced the opening of a second high-end-hotel with 241 rooms in China’s capital Beijing.

Also the US-company Marriott International relies on new luxury hotels: in Macau the first “only suites” property by the Ritz-Carlton brand opened end of May. With the inauguration of a JW Marriott Hotel (228 rooms) in Zhejiang Anji at the Yangtze River delta the number of high-end-properties by this brand was raised up to eleven. Also in Washington D.C. another JW Marriott Hotel (750 rooms) recently opened its doors. Another highlight by the JW Marriot brand is a resort (266 rooms) in Venice.

With its legendary hotel brand Ritz-Carlton Marriott is also expanding: in Cairo the famous 431-room property will re-open. In Budapest another Ritz-Carlton with 192 rooms is arising in prime location close to the St. Stephan Cathedral; opening is scheduled for early-2016 and in Jeddah a 224-room Ritz-Carlton will open its doors also this summer.

Also Starwood is promoting its top hotel brands: 2016 a St. Regis resort (77 private villas) will open on the Maldives (Vommuli Island). Further St. Regis hotels recently opened in Moscow, Mumbai and in Dubai. The former Conrad Hotel in Chicago (Hilton group) will re-open as an exquisite Luxury Collection hotel. The first Luxury Collection hotel by Starwood itself is arising in Kyoto, Japan.

India relies on mid-classed hotels – 159 new hotel in the pipeline

New Delhi, India – 24 June 2015 – As a traditional travel destination India has to re-focus on new qualities. After partially significant declines of overnight stays by foreign guests – global reporting about series of rapes especially of women from western countries has damaged the tourism enormous – recently the number of tourist arrivals has increased by six percent. Domestic tourism in India has increased strongly by 10 percent during the past three years. Especially branded mid-scale hotels – decent quality for affordable rates – are in demand for the growing middle class. The Indian government plans to encourage the business with international tourists and therefore relaxes the visa regulations with further countries.

Also investors already kept an eye on efficient working budget hotel chains and hotel booking portals such as fabhotels.com (former Casa2Inns), Oyo Rooms and stayzilla.com. In autumn Starwood Hotels & Resorts will open a high-end hotel by its St. Regis brand in Mumbai. For this will the exciting Palladium Hotel undergo an extensive refurbishment and extension to become a top hotel with 386 luxury rooms and suites, five restaurants, a club lounge, the bars, pool, fitness area and meeting spaces on 38 floors. With 37 new properties in the pipeline Starwood Hotels is expanding its portfolio in India (currently 43 hotels). Among others the W Retreat & Spa Goa, The Westin Kolkata, Sheraton Hyderabad, Le Meridien Nagpur and the Aloft New Delhi Aerocity are under construction.
